Pinochet Arrested; Have His Pension Benefits Run Out?

This is Day 1 of my blog. Some days, ideas will spring forth from me like Athena from the head of Zeus. Other days, they will dribble out like stale beer from the mouth of a passed-out drunk. Hopefully, I'll say a few things that are memorable. You have now come to the end of the user's manual. Thank you.

General Augusto Pinochet is a former professional dictator who began his rule in Chile in 1973 after helping bring about a coup. He was part of a military junta and a repressive regime which assassinated thousands of dissidents and tortured possibly hundreds of thousands more. Recent evidence has confirmed the long-believed thought that the CIA was involved and supported the coup despite the fact that the previous President, Salvador Allende, was democratically elected. But he made the mistake of being a Marxist, which the CIA and the US felt was just very rude. He became dead just before Pinochet took power.

Today, the Chilean gov't arrested the aged Pinochet, just in time for his 90th birthday. What speedy work, guys! I also hear that (thankfully) Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
